On Virginia's Eastern Shore, growth looks a little different. It's not just about new buildings. It's about honoring history, strengthening communities, and creating infrastructure that supports the future.
At TST Construction, we are proud to be part of that progress in Accomack County through two impactful projects: the Accomac Primary Adaptive Reuse Project and the Melfa Hangar Construction Project.
The Accomac Primary Adaptive Reuse Project is more than a renovation. It's a restoration of community identity.
Originally constructed in 1932, this 19,000 SF building once stood as one of the most modern educational facilities on Virginia's Eastern Shore. Over the decades, it served generations of students before eventually falling out of use and being relegated to storage.
Today, that story is changing.
TST Construction is leading the transformation of the former school into a centralized administrative hub for Accomack County Public Schools. Once complete, the facility will house the School Board and administrative staff while also providing a dedicated meeting space for community use.
Rather than demolishing the structure, this adaptive reuse project approach preserves the building's historical significance while giving it a new purpose. As shared during the groundbreaking ceremony, this project represents "the turning of a page." This sentiment reflects both the building's legacy and the County's vision moving forward.
With an estimated completion in March 2027 and project value of approximately $10 million, this investment reinforces the County's commitment to thoughtful, sustainable growth.
Just miles away, another project is preparing the region for future opportunity.
The Melfa Hangar Construction Project, located at Accomack County Airport, will deliver a 10,000+ SF pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) designed to support aviation operations and regional growth.
This project, owned and led by the Virginia Commercial Space Flight Authority, plays a role in the broader ecosystem of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport, which is an important hub for aerospace and aviation activity.
TST Construction's scope includes full site development and construction of the hangar facility. This includes foundations, structural systems, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection systems, as well as utility connections and site improvements to ensure long-term functionality.
With construction beginning soon and a target completion date of late 2026, the hangar will ultimately be operated and maintained by Accomack County. This will further strengthen local infrastructure and support economic activity tied to aviation and aerospace industries.

In addition to expanding regional infrastructure, these projects are expected to support local economic activity by engaging a skilled construction workforce and trade partners throughout the Eastern Shore. TST Construction is committed to working with regional subcontractors and suppliers whenever possible, helping ensure the project investment contributes back to the local community.
Together, these efforts reflect a broader commitment to Accomack County:
From restoring a nearly century-old school to constructing new infrastructure that supports emerging industries, TST Construction is proud to play a role in shaping what is next for Virginia's Eastern Shore.
