TST Construction completed the renovation of Building LF-59, a 62,000-square-foot facility at Naval Station Norfolk, to support helicopter repair operations and administrative functions for two squadrons. Work was executed in two phases to minimize disruption. Major upgrades included roof replacement, restroom renovations, new flooring and finished, motorization of hangar bay doors, ATFP-compliant entry doors and windows, and a painted hangar bay floor with new aircraft grounding receptacles. Site improvements added a new parking area with curbing, controlled gate access, and a guard house.
Engineering upgrades included a new multi-zone HVAC system with associated electric and plumbing connections, a new hot water source, replacement of electrical equipment including motor control centers and transformers, new interior lighting throughout, and a building-wide lightning protection system. Sustainable features include high-albedo roofing and advanced lighting controls.
Critical to project success was close coordination between the design team, subcontractors, and facility occupants to ensure uninterrupted operations during the phased transition. Weekly team meetings and continuous communication allowed TST to maintain RFP compliance, manage material and labor staging, and deliver a seamless renovation that met all mission requirements.
