Project Type:
Architect: Burgess & Niple, Inc.
Square Feet: 27,000 sq.ft.
This unique, multi-scope Design-Build project tasked our team with designing and constructing a one-story equipment maintenance building, the Tactical Equipment Maintenance Facility (TEMF), which included a partial mezzanine level; a petroleum, oil, and lubricant (POL) storage building; a hazardous waste storage building; and a metal storage building. Related infrastructure included nearly two acres of heavy concrete pavement, three new parking lots with access sidewalks, a stormwater management pond, and associated underground utilities. Site and walkway lighting were incorporated into the final design. The TEMF was primarily a single-story pre-engineered metal building with a two-story section in the center, spanning approximately 27,000 square feet. The roof, floor, and wall framing consisted of pre-engineered metal building components. The foundation system was shallow, consisting of spread footings supporting the pre-engineered metal building columns and a turn-down slab edge to support the perimeter masonry water table. An 8-inch slab-on-grade was used in the service bay areas, while a 6-inch slab-on-grade was used in the Arms Vault, the ComSec Vault, and the mechanical room. This project was approved for LEED Silver Certification by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers LEED Program Support Team.
